2007/05/18 Another Baylands RC flight
π 2007-05-18 23:04 by Merlin in Rc

Another friday, another baylands day.
After my by wheel upgrade, I managed to do some takeoffs from the grass, which is challenging since the grass is thick and the plane not that big (it tends to get stuck and to nose over).
I also managed a few grass landings without tipping over, I'm getting a bit better at flaring and doing soft landings at low speeds (at least some of the time).
That said, in my last approach to landing, I clipped a tree right in front of the runway :)
The tree impact was apparently at fairly high speed, it shattered the propeller, and upset the wing quite a bit. Nothing that some glue won't fix, but it looked like a pretty tough impact. Luckily the motor still looks ok this time :)
Some guy was flying a very nice biplane with a wooden prop, it looked pretty cool.
