This is a way after the fact recounting of my first flight in a small plane, which made me think at the time that flying was pretty cool (driving to Mammoth is a bitch, and going for a day trip is a not gonna happen).
It took several years for me to get my stuff together (well, other than money) and learn to fly, but the seed was set that day.
landed in MMH after a bumpy flight, beautiful view
on the way back, we left just before sunset
Years later, I was able to get checked out in the plane I was a passenger in: 26WG which is now at Shoreline Flying Club. Unfortunately, it's not a very good plane, it had a gear up landing soon after I got checked out in it, because it just didn't have a reliable rectractable gear system.
I never flew that plane again, but I since did fly to Mammoth for day or weekend skiing trips :)
