Ok, so I like Techno, more specifically Trance. Unfortunately, the US, it's let's just say... a bit behind in that department. If you ever hear such music on the radio, or even in the street, let me know (for instance, in Australia, I heard great Techno in even a waterslide park of all places).
Anyway, at least, with San Francisco nearby, I've had some opportunities to see some great DJs, even if at least at 1015, I've often been disappointed by what they played compared to their usual sets (it's been better overall at Ruby Skye in the recent years).

Over time, I've seen many of my favorite DJs across the world, whether it was locally, in New York City, Canada, Australia, and of course Ibiza, and at Halloween 2004, I finally attended some great local parties that proved that you could get the good stuff locally too (even if all the artists came from other countries .
That said, I ended up finding out that some of my favourite DJs who put out great CDs and mixes, unfortunately mixed mostly boring tunes when I saw them live. That was quite a disappointment, but I have been hanging on for the few times where some DJs did actually play great live sets). It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it

By the time I heard about it, it was sold out. They decided to do an encore the next day, but by then I'd be hiking somewhere, not really within distance of SF :)
Luckily, I just was able to buy a ticket from a coworker who couldn't make it.
It will be interesting as I will have to wake up by 09:00 the next morning to go hiking for the 3 day weekend, but eh, sometimes you just have to go for it. This should be a great party :)
(BTW, this is not crazy, the alternative I considered was to fly and take the train to Den Haag to go see Armin for his 250 ASOT episode at Asta, but ultimately, it was a bit dodgy timewise and I wasn't too sure I'd be back by friday, or in what state :)

In other news, the guys from cog1 marketing stole this picture from my web site and put it on their web page as part of the rotating gif . I sent them an Email asking for reasonable compensation, and of course they haven't replied yet.
I have better things than to sue them, but in times where the recording industry sues their customers left and right, if their promoters start stealing pictures from their customers without paying royalties, there is a problem.

Tijs started playing some time past midnight, and overall I thought he did an ok job, but I having listened to what Armin and other DJs played at Asta the night before, I would have much rather been there. I guess it doesn't mean that Tijs was bad as much as I tend to prefer Armin's music nowadays.
That said, it was still quite a nice party, especially with the cool decors work that Ruby Skye did, it was really pretty. The sound, however, I found that I couldn't hear the melody as much as the bass...
Oh well, it was still nice to be there though.
