It has been a while since the last track day, so I made time to go back. It should have been exciting to try the F488 for the first time at Thunderhill, but the first set of tires it came with were complete trash, and I pretty much was in survival mode with my "fastest" lap at 2:06, which was abysmal, but any faster felt totally unsafe.
Things were so bad that I spun on my 2nd lap while trying to warm up the tires... After that, I was just super conservative, and had to be, but yeah, it was no fun.
the lovely car I'm not quite ready for :)
After 2 sessions, I let the crew know that the tires were totally unsable. We took them out and sure enough they were trashed:
When I went back out, I immmediately took out 8 seconds, and then some ABS system failed and the car went into limp mode. Bummer, that was the end of that day:
This kind of stuff happens with racecars, but yeah, it was disappointing. I didn't get to learn how fast the car can go at TH.
Here's a short session with the somewhat faster laps:
I flew back early and still had half a day to do other stuff at home, better than nothing:
