After eating at Subayashi Jiro's Sushi-Ya, we got to eat at Jiro's first apprentice, who is now fairly old himself. It was another fantastic sushi dinner. Only got a couple of pictures before being told I couldn't take any, ooops :)

2013/06/02 First Real Sushi-Ya at Subayashi Jiro in Tokyo's Roppongi

Before Jiro I dream of Sushi became famous, I had found out about it but even by then he was already too famous, and when I asked the hotel if there is anything they could do to get us a reservation, it wasn't really possible. My guess is that even then, foreigners were not super welcome. However, they directed us to Jiro's 2nd son (his first son still works with him at the original location) who had a similar Sushi-Ya in Roppongi. Sure enough, his son totally knew what he was doing too, and it was definitely the best Sushi I had eaten at that point of my life.
For those who don't know how the experience works, they only have seating for around 8 people, there is no menu, you just sit down and they serve you what they have that day. There was the option of getting a few extras (without pricing) and at the end they write down a number on a piece of paper, and that's what you should pay (cash only ;) ).

The 'apprentice' who had been there for a mere 17 years or so :) Thankfully he had spent time in Australia and spoke English well
