2019/12/03 Jennifer's Belated Birthday at Atelier Crenn
π 2019-12-03 01:01 in Jdining
For Jennifer's BD, we booked a dinner at a new Michelin 3 star restaurant in SF, Atelier Crenn. We had to wait a bit until they had a free table for us, but it was worth it. It was a very fancy menu with an even fancier wine pairing (which actuall cost more than the tasting menu itself), and included many wines Jennifer had never tried before.

Our last 3 star restaurant in SF was Saison and it was over $150 more expensive per person before wines, and honestly was not worth the price. Atelier Crenn is still quite expensive ($335 per person), but in comparison, was definitely a better deal ;) (yes, I understand this is quite relative :) ).

2018/11/20 Jennifer 44th Birthday Dinner at Manresa
π 2018-11-20 01:01 in Jdining
Since last time we went it was 8 years ago, time flies. Since then, they picked up a 3rd Michelin star and raised their prices accordingly ;)

Last time I think I was not impressed because it wasn't the typical french tasting menu I was used to, but also because the service was quite slow and the whole dinner took 4H, which is just too long in my book. This time it was better timed, and some of the dishes that I was less impressed with were replaced by new ones that were all quite tasty with multiple levels of flavaours.
The wine pairing cost arond $250, which clearly wasn't cheap. Jennifer was ok with it, but I think she would have appreciated more red wines, even if a good amount of dishes we had were better paired with white.

2012/11/18 Jennifer's BD at Baume
π 2012-11-18 01:01 in Jdining
For Jennifer's BD, I took her back to Baume. It was a fantastic dinner, although I think they've started pushing the prices a too far IMO (just the wine pairing the was price of a very very good 10 course dinner elsewhere), although it definitely was nice.

2011/11/19 Jennifer's Birthday 37th, at avoid now, Chez TJ
π 2011-11-19 01:01 in Jdining
For Jennifer's Birthday we went to chez TJ for their 8 course tasting menu.

The place was still nice, the dishes were enjoyable, unfortunately it took 30mn to get each dish, which is way way too long (4.5H for the whole meal), also we both kind of got stomach sick afterwards, so we likely both got food poisoning there.
That's pretty sad, it was a good place we used to enjoy. What's also more sad is that they don't answer their info@cheztj.com Email, nor did the manager replied to me when I called and Emailed him directly with my concerns...

Oh well, here are the photos, at least those were nice:

2011/02/12 2011 Valentine's Day
π 2011-02-12 01:01 in Jdining
Jennifer booked a nice dinner for us at Chez TJ in Mountain View since we hadn't gone there for a while. It was a nice enjoyable 5 course dinner.

A couple of days later, on actual Valentine's day, I got a valentine's android and heart cookie while Jennifer unfroze the remaining pieces of our wedding cake. Said cake was still quite good :)

2010/12/14 Thank you Dinner from Mats from Travieso Winery
π 2010-12-14 01:01 in Jdining
Jennifer has been volunteering at Travieso Winery for over a year now, and along with other regular volunteers, they apparently helped sell a lot of wine and club subscriptions at open house events (apparently Jennifer is a good salesperson when she's selling good stuff ;).

Mats, one of the two Travieso co-founders, made a fantastic dinner for us (especially considering that all he had in the winery was a microwave and a portable propane burner).

Although, while the dinner was actually really good, it was only second to the fantastic wine selection, including a 1861 Madeira (!), a very nice 1970 Port and 1981 chateau d'Yquem Sauternes and a couple of Moët & Chandon Dom Pérignon from his personal collection (not counting a nice flight of Travieso wines). It's not every day that you get to drink some of those.

A Big thank you Mats for sharing all this with us.
