Please Help Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: Marc Merlin Status: RO X-Status: A Content-Length: 3799 Lines: 45 Hi, I'm the admin of spamcop, and I'm sorry I'm replying to this issue so late. I am concerned about reports being delivered to the right places *and* about abuse of my system by reporting of non-spam as spam. So, let's see if I can figure this out - first of all Ashwin Kutty: You say you will report this type of list traffic whether you subscribed for the list or not: again, i do think this is spam, if the php people do not know how to filter out emails and users that do not know proper mailing list policies/etiquette or if php does not have any, then maybe it should learn and initiate some.. if mailing you people would have been enough this would have been looked after long back.. i will risk loosing my access to spamcop but if this happens again you will recieve an email from me, if you would like you can even go ahead and remove me from your lists, from the attitude shown here, i wouldnt be surprised one bit, but hosting a mailing list of php's size and caliber i would have imagined a better administration of it, and understanding from the "sane administrators", as you put it.. So be it, you're access to spamcop is terminated. You are not to report list traffic (spam or otherwise) through spamcop. You may unsub from the list if it has too much spam, or discuss filtering the spam with the list admin. Sometimes it's very difficult to limit spam to an open mailing list. Reporting to the list admin (or their network provider) via spamcop is not acceptable. If you want to change your position on this, you may be allowed access to spamcop again, but you may not report list traffic through spamcop. Irregardless of the fact that you got this via the mysql list, it simply isn't spam by the spamcop definition of UBE. It may be bulk but it sure ain't unsolicited (unless you're claiming you didn't sign up for this list). (...) Now, Jim: Again sorry for the clueless user. As you see, he probably won't be back - at least not via spamcop. I wouldn't be surprised if he signs up again and again starts harrassing you though. This type of behavoir seems to be chronic. Let me know if you get more of this from spamcop, and see above re: registering php.net with abuse.net. (...) -=Julian=-
