Exim4 package for Debian Linux
Note
This page used to be the home of main unofficial debian exim4 package, but
thanks for the effort of several people, there is finally an exim4 package
in debian unstable. See this page for details
I am not using or maintaining the packages listed on this page anymore, you
can play with them, but don't Email me to ask for help
Note
So, what did I put in this page?
- I have an old package that
can be installed in addition to the exim/exim 3 package, see these quick
instructions. You can also get
the debian tree if you
want to rebuild the package yourself.
The two things to know if you are going to use this package is that you need to
symlink /usr/lib/exim4/exim to /usr/sbin/exim, and you need to have your config
file in /etc/mail/exim4.conf
- That said, you're probably better off with my newer exim 4.10 package which
is a standalone exim4 package (conflicts with the exim (3) package), so it's
cleaner, and it also contains sa-exim compiled as a loadable module.
This is the link to my latest exim
and eximon debian packages (current
version: 4.10-6mm). If you want to rebuilt the package or modify it,
you can get the debian subtree here
(just untar it in your exim source distribution dir, and type debian/rules
binary)
- The newer exim packages contain very detailed and configurable exim4.conf.
It should work out of the box on most machines and let you maintain different
configurations off one config file. See this for details
